Meet Our First Teammate

Deena Nystrom

Coco's Aunt & Our First Sarcoma Teammate
Deena Nystrom has been deeply inspired by the legacy and love left behind through the life of Coco Clark Burke. When Deena was diagnosed with Carcinosarcoma Fallopian Tube cancer in October 2024, Coco was one of the very first people to reach out with encouragement, compassion, and unwavering support. That kindness left a lasting impact on Deena, making it an incredible honor to become the very first teammate of this new charity dedicated to finding cures for sarcomas.
Deena is the proud mother of three children — John (Jaclyn), 26, and twins Whitney and Makenzy Nystrom, 23. She is married to Coco’s uncle, Mark Clark, and together they are blessed with eight grandchildren.
Professionally, Deena is the Publisher and Owner of two successful magazine franchises, Stroll Center Grove and BeLocal Johnson County, where she proudly serves as the top and only salesperson. In addition to running her businesses, Deena mentors and coaches 26 franchise owners across the country each week.
Since September 2016, Deena and Mark have also owned and operated Whit’s Inn Bar & Grill, a beloved local gathering place known for its strong community spirit.
Outside of work, Deena treasures time with family, especially relaxing by the pool, singing at church and karaoke nights, and traveling whenever possible. Planning the next adventure continues to motivate her to stay positive, hopeful, and healthy as she courageously faces her cancer journey.
